While we ARE sleeping

At  17 I took the oath.

I would kill and die

for the Stars and Stripes…

I got an education

Became an educator

raised my children

believing still in the Stars and Stripes.

What it represented

What it waved for…

In my lifetime I watched

the fight for equality grow,

expand and crumble before

my eyes.

For gender, race, religion and

love…

I watched a man die by a knee~

I heard about a woman killed

in her bed~

Innocents slaughtered by

weapons of war~

E.R.A. rotting away.

Crimes of hate

and then

Roe v. Wade.

Disbelief

Shock

Grief

I Weep

for never again can I believe

in the promise that was

a lie…

While we WERE sleeping

the belief died..

.

Journeys~

Rainbows flow

rain goes

days blend

night reigns

sunrise begin

again

journey’s

of memories

journey’s

to come

days of

pain

days of

joy

time churns

body yearns

growing older

growing bolder

roads taken

paths waiting…

Sometimes…

Sometimes

letting go

is the

greatest

gift~

Sometimes

holding on

takes the

greatest

strength~

Doing both

takes the

greatest

spirit~

Rise

Shine

Repeat…

Sometimes~

Soul Dance~

My soul

dances

in the

light

through the

night.

My spirit

seeks

the secret

places~

spaces~

to dream

to create

to heal

follow the

rabbit

through

the hole

who knows

perhaps you

come back

whole~

Changing within

changing without

always changing

always phasing

changing faces

changing places

keep dreaming

keep creating

keep seeking

keep healing

find the

light

through

the night…

let your

Soul

keep

dancing~
